2013-15

Mel was invited to make a series of works on a farm in Maryland, USA.

A small clearing on an ox-bow bend in a stream provided the location for a stone and planted work.  An elliptical ring of native paw-paw trees (Asimina trilobata) circle the stone-lined hole which is based on a resident spider\'s funneled web.

The hole fills as the water table rises and falls, is greening with moss, and highlights the white snow and yellow leaf fall with the changing seasons.  Native ferns will be planted to replace the grass.

At a nearby pond, a gravel and stone work provides a place to sit and be, with an fire-pit for evening fires.

Two gardens are currently under construction which control stormwater run-off and direct the flow into a stream.
